A disgruntled loser of a presidential election, emotionally manipulated the selective hearing of his adoring “fans”. It was the unsaid permission, to do more than just walk to the Capital. The result was a siege on the Capital as the Senate was certifying the electoral count. Fallen Capital Police Officer Brian Sicnick was at the head of the spear defending the Capital and the vulnerable lawmakers inside. Three hours of waiting for law reinforcement took a toll on other officers injured by the domestic terrorists.
You can read the transcript of Trumps January 6, 2021 speech for accurate context but I propose this is what the crowd heard through the megaphone of the emotional charged event.
Trump’s Speech:
“BE STRONG! Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. TAKE BACK OUR COUNTRY! Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. WE WILL NEVER GIVE UP! Blah, blah, WE WILL NEVER CONCEDE! Blah blah, blah. It doesn’t happen. YOU DON’T CONCEDE WHEN THERE’S THEFT involved! Blah, blah, blah. Our country has HAD ENOUGH! We will NOT TAKE IT ANYMORE! Blah, blah, we will STOP THE STEAL!! Blah, blah, you will have an ILLEGITIMATE PRESIDENT! Blah, blah, blah. That is what you will have, and WE CAN’T LET THAT HAPPEN! Blah, blah, MARCHING OVER TO THE CAPITAL blahbity peacefully blahbity, blah, blah, blah blah blah. WE FIGHT LIKE HELL and if you don’t fight like hell, YOU’RE NOT GOING TO HAVE A COUNTRY ANYMORE! Blah!, FRAUD!, blah, blah, STEAL!, Blah, blah, blah, CHEATED! LIES! MEDIA LIES! Blah, blah. We’re going to walk down, and I’ll be there with you. … WE ARE GOING TO THE CAPITAL! Blah, blah, going to try and give them (Republican law makers) the kind of PRIDE AND BOLDNESS that they need to TAKE BACK OUR COUNTRY! Blahbity blah blah. WE WILL NOT LET THEM SILENCE OUR VOICES!! WE ARE NOT GOING TO LET THAT HAPPEN! I’M NOT GOING TO LET THAT HAPPEN!.
(Audience chants: “FIGHT FOR TRUMP!!, FIGHT FOR TRUMP!!, FIGHT FOR TRUMP!!”)
We’re going to walk down Pennsylvania Avenue. blah, And WE’RE GOING TO THE CAPITAL! blah blah. Blahbity blah, GOD BLESS YOU AND GOD BLESS AMERICA! Blah. THIS IS INCREDIBLE! Thank you. Blah blah.”
(Audience cheers and heads to the Capital.)
A leader such as Martin Luther King Jr. or John Lewis would have been in in front marching the crowd to the Capital and being the most vulnerable to death or injury by resistance from authorities, But in true Trumpian style this President does not dirty his hands in battle, because he does not attend the physical fight instead he sends his angered mob to die and be arrested on the cross of righteous lies and he turns tail to be at the White House and play spectator of the reality TV show he has created. Most likely, to his delight it got top ratings for that day.
Where does Trump get his die-hard, blame all but yourself tactics? You may never have heard of Roy Cohn, the man behind Trumps never admitting defeat who personified the dark arts of American politics. He could “turn[ing] empty vessels into dangerous demagogues” (From the movie, Where’s My Roy Cohn”), and was Trump’s mentor and lawyer in the 70’s and 80’s. Trump learned the mastery of situational immorality. According to author Sam Roberts, “He [Cohen]worked with a three-dimensional strategy, which was: 1. Never settle, never surrender. 2. Counter-attack, counter-sue immediately. 3. No matter what happens, no matter how deeply into the muck you get, claim victory and never admit defeat.”
Roy Cohn lives on in every clawing at the slippery slopes of the deep dark hole of lies that Donald Trump feeds his followers.
